Lewis Hamilton won the German Grand Prix on Sunday after qualifying in second position behind Mercedes teammate and home favourite Nico Rosberg. Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen of Red Bull both made it to the podium in second and third position, as Rosberg dropped three places to fourth.

This was Hamilton's fourth race win in a row after victories at the Canadian, Austrian and British Grands Prix. Hamilton extended his lead in the Formula One Drivers' Championship to 19 points over second-placed Rosberg, which is remarkable considering the Briton was 24 points behind his German teammate at the beginning of July.

The Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen came fifth and sixth, which meant that the Italian manufacturer slipped to third in the constructors' championship, behind Mercedes and Red Bull.
