World No. 462 Aditi Ashok continued to belie her rank as she carded another solid, if not spectacular, round of 3-under-par 68 to finish Day 2 tied for the 8th spot at the women's Golf Championships in the 2016 Olympics.
Eighteen-year old Ashok, who is from Bengaluru, started the day in impressive fashion as she carded a 32 on a par-35 front nine with birdies on the 1st, 4th and 9th holes.
However, bogeys on the first and last holes on the back nine, interspersed by two more birdies, meant that she finished the round with a 68 on a day when scoring was easier as 42 women out of the field of 60 managed to card an even-par round or higher.
Ashok's round meant that she finished the day with an overall score of 6-under-par after 36 holes, tying her on 8th place with four other women, including overnight leader Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand, who slipped after carding only an even-par 71.
Ashok is currently two strokes off Brooke Henderson of Canada and Charley Hull of Great Britain, who are tied for 3rd at 8-under-par 134.
Inbee Park of South Korea, the most decorated women's golfer playing in Rio with seven major wins to her name, carded another 66 to claim sole possession of top spot on the leaderboard at 10-under, four strokes ahead of Ashok as the field heads into Day 3. American Stacey Lewis carded the best round of the day with 63, and is one stroke behind Park.
