Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova stand on the cusp of winning of winning their second title after joining hands last month as they booked a place in the Pan Pacific Open final with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 win against Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Spaniard Maria Jose Sanchez.
After labouring into the quarter-finals, this was another contest that had both sets of players win a set each before Mirza and Strycova won the tie break.
Mirza and Strycova picked up 66 of the 121 points that were played for in the semi-final match, which lasted for a little more than an hour.
The second seeded Mirza-Strycova pair will now face China's Chen Liang and Zhaoxuan Yang, who downed Raquel Atawo and Abigail Spears in another hard-fought game. It finished 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 to the Chinese pair.
