Pep Guardiola saw his team's winning run in the Premier League come to a grinding halt as his Manchester City side went down 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
This caps off a bad week for Guardiola, who had seen his 10-game winning run in charge of Manchester City stopped by a 3-3 draw against Celtic in mid-week. For our report on Tottenham's win over Manchester city, read here.
There was a last gasp winner for Arsenal as Laurent Koscielny bundled the ball home from close range as Arsene Wenger and Gunners fans celebrated the Frenchman's 20 years in charge of the club.
On a weekend when City slipped up, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool all capitalized winning their respective games but one of City's title rivals slipped up to miss an opportunity to close the gap on the leaders.
Cracks appear in Mourinho-United marriage
Jose Mourinho's honeymoon at Manchester United seems to be coming to an end as the Red Devils did everything but score more goals as they were held 1-1 at home by the division's bottom club, Stoke City.
On an evening which they dominated and should have scored more goals, United blew the chance to go to within three points of City as Stoke clung on to claim their first point at Old Trafford for 36 years.
Paul Pogba was the main culprit, as he could have had a hat-trick of headed finishes; the last hitting the crossbar late in the game which could have given United the three points. Earlier, United had several glorious chances in the first half as Stoke keeper Lee Grant pulled off some incredible saves to keep the game scoreless till the teams went in at the break.
United had taken the lead when the ball fell kindly to Anthony Martial inside the box who made no mistake with his finish as the Red Devils broke the deadlock after 69 minutes. Ex-Liverpool man Joe Allen handed Stoke a point when David de Gea split a shot onto the path of Jonathan Walters whose shot made its way to the Welshman who made no mistake with de Gea stranded outside the goalmouth area.
Jose defends his team
At the press conference, Mourinho tried to look at the silver lining in his team's performance rather surprising, given his penchant for publicly crucifying his players.
Mourinho said, "The team played good football, they created a lot of chances. If the score is 5-0, then the performance is good. If it is 1-1, then it becomes frustrating."
The facts remain, Stoke have been terrible this season, gaining two points from their six games this season. Mourinho's mission was to win games, not play "good football" as he put it.
His team may have dominated the game, but that is no excuse for not beating the 20th-placed team in the league at home.
Arsenal celebrate 20 years of Wenger
It was a landmark game. Arsenal's French manager had completed more than 20 years in his position and had cemented his reputation as one of the dugout legends of the game.
On Sunday, his team did their best to frustrate him and expectant fans by putting up a sub-par display. Burnley, so solid at home, deserved a point and may have even had three, had Sam Vokes headed home after Scott Arfield's cross found him unmarked in the box, only for the Welsh forward to hit it home thinking it was offside, when in fact he was perfectly onside.
Michael Keane also headed a ball against the crossbar as Burnley looked full value for the draw. With time running out, Koscielny scored with the last touch of the game as Theo Walcott's header hit the French defender on the face, off his shin and into the goal as Arsenal celebrated a fifth Premier League win in a row, moving to within two points of leaders City, who have 18 points from seven games.
