India registered their first win in the ongoing Kabaddi World Cup by demolishing Australia 54-20 in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
After being stunned by South Korea 34-32 in the opening encounter on Friday, India made sure they were at their dominating best against the Aussies. It was an all-round performance from the hosts who came out all guns blazing and put to rest the criticism they received in the first game.
For India, Manjeet Chhillar was on the money and made it difficult for the Australian raiders to get across the line when they came into India’s half. Next up for India is Bangladesh on Tuesday. The team needs to win all their remaining matches to advance to the semi-final. Australia should be proud of their performance considering it was their first competitive game at the World Cup.
