Wayne Rooney is struggling for club and country currently, but there is no doubt that he is one of England’s most successful footballers.
Rooney, who turns 31 today, made his professional debut with Everton at the age of 16 in 2002. And it wasn’t long before Manchester United came calling.
Rooney was perfect at United in his initial years and under Alex Ferguson, he won the Premier League five times, the Champions League once, the FIFA Club World Cup, two League Cups and one the FA Cup.
Rooney is expected to break Sir Bobby Charlton’s club goals record of 249, being only three behind on 246. Last year, Rooney surpassed Charlton’s England record of 50 goals and is currently on 53 in 118 appearances.
