It has to be one of the most bizarre ways to be sent off.
On Sunday, Bosnia’s captain Edin Dzeko received a red card after he pulled down his opponent’s shorts during a World Cup qualifier against Greece. The former Manchester City player pulled down the shorts of Greece’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos during their clash.
Dzeko, who plays for AS Roma, was brought down by Kyriakos Papadopoulos in the 75th minute. However, Dzeko still had the ball as Papastathopoulos attempted to take it away from Dzeko. The Bosnian captain then reacted angrily by tugging at the Greece player’s shorts while he was still down on the ground. Dzeko then pushed Papastathopoulos as soon as he got up. The referee red-carded Dzeko and Papadopoulos as he had seen enough. The match ended in a 1-1 draw as Greece scored an equaliser during the end of the match.
