The big news: Vijay, Kohli dominate first session on Day 3 in Mumbai

The third day of the India-England Test at Mumbai began with Cheteshwar Pujara being bowled by Jake Ball early on during the morning session. In walked skipper Virat Kohli sending the people at the stadium into a frenzy. Along with Murali Vijay, Kohli took India to 247/2 at lunch still trailing England by 153 runs.

Vijay notched up yet another ton, his second in the series as he handed India an advantage going into lunch. Kohli too broke a couple of records as he crossed 4000 Test runs overall and 1000 Test run in 2016. The run machine was playing an aggressive brand of cricket and was not looking to defend at all. He is the sixth-fastest Indian to achieve the feat of 4000 runs, with Virender Sehwag leading the charts. India will look to bat out the day and hope to surpass England’s target of 400 runs. With Vijay and Kohli still at the crease, it is achievable. The duo completed their 100-run partnership in 182 balls as well with Vijay unbeaten on 122 and Kohli on 44.
