After shocking defeats for Arsenal and Leicester City on Tuesday, Wednesday night saw the big teams winning and gaining a foothold on the points table. Chelsea continued their amazing run with Liverpool in hot pursuit. Manchester City and United also got their act together in a dominating display of football.
Chelsea continue to rise
Chelsea opened up a six-point gap at the top of the table after beating Sunderland 1-0. Cesc Fabregas scored the only goal of the game minutes before the first first half ended. The win also meant that Antonio Conte’s team have won 10 matches in a row.
Zlatan stars in United’s win
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his ninth goal of the season as Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 2-1. The Red Devils took the lead through Paul Pogba with James McArthur scoring the equaliser for Palace in the second half.
Liverpool hammer three past Boro
Liverpool dismantled Middlesbrough 3-0 for an easy win. Powered by a brace by Adam Lallana, Divock Origi scored his fifth goal in as many games. With the win, Liverpool are second on the table, ahead of Arsenal on the virtue of having scored more goals.
City find their feet, finally
Manchester City beat Watford 2-0 as Pablo Zabaleta and David Silva scored to avoid another defeat. With the win, City are fourth on table with 33 points, a point behind Arsenal.
