Brisbane Heat’s Chris Lynn is no ordinary hitter of the ball, and it was evident from the manner in which he led his side to an improbable last-over win against Sydney Thunder on Wednesday.
Here, he wowed Big Bash aficionados with a monstrous hit off Shaun Tait, which went out of Gabba. Mind you, this is no Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore or Mumbai’s Wankhede. There are times when batsmen struggle to hit fours at this iconic Australian arena. Lynn’s effort was recorded at 121 metres, longer than Dan Christian’s hit in the 2015 BBL, which read 117 metres.
Social media went berserk after Lynn’s strike, which came off a ferocious 148 kmph delivery from pacer Shaun Tait:
Chris Lynn has hit the longest six I've ever seen

121 mtrs #BBL06
This is what happened in the commentary box and Lynn’s hit had got a rousing testimonial from two massive hitters during their time, Mark Waugh and Kevin Pietersen.

...And from another big-hitting machine. Surely, Maxwell wins the prize for the funniest remark.

Lynn rode his luck aplenty during his stay at the crease and was dropped five times by the Hurricanes. It was New Zealand legend Brendan McCullum who did most of the damage, setting Heat up for a win despite having to chase a stiff 174-run target. Lynn did the rest, clearing the ropes with utmost disdain. Heat romped home by seven wickets and Lynn was unbeaten on 84.
