The Supreme Court, on Monday, agreed to hear a fresh plea submitted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary, who alleged that the apex court-ordered Committee of Administrators were not allowing the office members to perform their duties, reported PTI.
Chaudhary’s lawyer has reportedly asked for an early hearing of the interim application stating that the BCCI office-bearers who are not disqualified, be allowed to carry on with their assigned tasks.
Chaudhary also alleged that the CoA has now authorised BCCI secretary Rahul Johri to handle the legal matters filed by and against the cricket body, the report added. The plea added that several functions, including the selection of the junior team selection are on hold because the office-bearers are not allowed to function by the CoA panel, headed by Vinod Rai.
A bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra has assured Chaudhary’s counsel that it would communicate with the Chief Justice JS Khehar for setting up of the bench early. The bench comprises of Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, who have been hearing the matter relating to implementation of administrative reforms in the apex cricket body.
