Arsenal’s striker Olivier Giroud revealed on Monday that he believed the club’s players wanted under-fire manager Arsène Wenger to stay on, reported The Guardian. Wenger himself is determined to stay at the club with a two-year contract on the table and said that and an announcement will be made “very soon”.
“We want Arsène Wenger to renew his contract, to continue his adventure, because we support him. We hope we can win the cup and that Arsenal qualify for the Champions League,” said Giroud.
Club supporters have demanded that Wenger must leave the club after their recent slump in form. They were beaten 3-1 at West Bromwich Albion and lie sixth on the Premier League table with a top-four finish looking highly unlikely. Arsenal are also out of the Champions League, following a 10-2 aggregate defeat by Bayern Munich.
