Remember the infamous bronze bust of Cristiano Ronaldo at the Madeira airport in Portugal? Yes, the one that broke Twitter with memes about just how little it looked like Ronaldo. Here’s a look at that “masterpiece” in case you needed a reminder.
Now, Emanuel Santos, the same sculptor is back, this time with the bust of another Real Madrid striker, Gareth Bale. And this time as well, the statue looks nothing like who it is supposed to be.
The bust has been commissioned ahead of Champions League final, which will be held in Bale’s native Wales, and has been displayed at the National Stadium of Wales ahead of Saturday’s match between reigning champions Real Madrid and Juventus, reported ESPN.
“I have become a bit famous since my Ronaldo artwork with people telling me how much it made them smile, so to bring another famous footballer to life is a true honour,” Santos told ESPN at the unveiling.
“Maybe I’ll create another one to make it a hat trick as they say in football,” he added. We wonder who it will be this time. Zinedine Zidane, perhaps?
Why would he get another chance, one wonders? Maybe to cash in on #Ronaldobust’s notoriety? The statue, commissioned by Paddy Power, is already hit with online trolls.
