The International Cricket Council has cleared the bowling action of West Indies all-rounder Kraigg Brathwaite, PTI reported on Wednesday.
An independent assessment of Brathwaite’s bowling action was performed at the Loughborough testing centre in England on August 31.
“The bowling action of Windies off-spinner Kraigg Brathwaite has been found to be legal, and the player can continue bowling in international cricket,” the ICC said. The amount of elbow extension in Brathwaite’s deliveries was found to be well within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the world body’s regulations.
Brathwaite was reported for suspect action during the first Test against England at Edgbaston in August. The hosts had won the match by an innings and 209 runs. The Barbadian had bowled six overs in the match and had finished his spell for figures of 0/6.
In his career, the 24-year-old has played 40 Tests and has picked 12 wickets. In the 10 One-Day International matches he has played, Brathwaite has claimed just one wicket. Brathwaite has scored 2598 runs in the 40 Tests he has played at an average of 36.5 besides 278 runs in 10 ODI matches at an average of 27.8 runs.
