It was a mixed day for Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri as he went down in the singles but along with Divij Sharan, made it to the doubles semi-finals at the 10th edition of the Tashkent ATP Challenger, which is being played on the Olympic tennis school courts in Tashkent.
On a day when four seeded players were shown he door, Poland’s 317th ranked Kamil Majchrzak upset seventh seeded and 152 ranked Yuki Bhambri 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in an encounter that lasted for 110 minutes. Bhambri was broken in the tenth game of the first and the third set by the hard hitting 21-year-old.
Other top players who exited the tournament included second seeded Thomas Fabbiano of Italy, third seed and the highly rated Alexander Bublik, sixth seeded Italian Matteo Berrettini and eighth seeded Konstantin Kravchuk of Russia. In the doubles quarter-finals, the Indian pair recorded a 6-3,7-6(3) win over Monaco’s Romain Arneodo and Ukrainian Denys Molchanov.
