India shuttler PV Sindhu on Saturday produced a clinical performance to down Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand to enter her second successive final at the Hong Kong Open Superseries.
Sindhu, seeded second at the event, outplayed her Thai rival 21-17, 21-17 to set up date with Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in the final, which will be a rematch of last year’s title clash that went in favour of the latter.
Sindhu was her dominant self in the semi-final. She took the lead ear in the first game and never let it slip. She went into the break with w 11-7 advantage. Her opponent tried to reduce the deficit with four consecutive points to make it 20-17. Sindhu, though, calmed herself down to close out the 21-17 in just over 18 minutes.
Intanon came back strong in the second game, but Sindhu once again edged ahead after capitalising on her opponents errors. She registered six straight points to go into the break with a 11-6 lead. Intanon stage a fightback, but Sindhu was far too composed to let the Thai get past her. She eventually closed out the game 21-17 to earn a fine win.
