England opener Alex Hales has been roped in by the Sunrisers Hyderabad as David Warner’s replacement for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Hales, a Board of Control for Cricket in India release said, was bought for his base price of Rs. 1 crore from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP) list.
Hales, who was part of the Mumbai Indian in 2015, is yet to make his IPL debut. In 173 T20 innings, he has made 4704 runs (with two hundreds) at 28.85 with a strike rate of 143.5.
Hales is the only English batsman with an international T20 hundered. He is also the only player from England to feature in the top 10 list of the ICC T20I rankings.
With Warner barred from this season’s IPL because of his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal, Kane Williamson was announced as the side’s captain.
