Saketh Myneni had a good day on Thursday as he won both his singles and doubles match at Fergana Challenger in Uzbekistan.

The Indian, who had to qualify for the main draw notched a comprehensive win over Subervi Roberto Cid 6-0, 6-4 to reach the singles quarter-final. In the doubles, the all-Indian pair of Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Myneni reached the semi-finals with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nikola Milojevic and Aldin Setkic.

The big loss in men’s doubles for India was Rohan Bopanna and the ATP 500 grass-court tournament at Queens. Bopanna and Édouard Roger-Vasselin lost a tightly-contested battle against top seeds Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic in the quarter-finals to go down 4-6, 7-6(6), 7-10.

Three Indians reached the semi-finals in doubles at the Ilkley ATP Challenger. Vishnu Vardhan and N Sriram Balaji upset the fourth seeds Hugo Nys and Jonathon Eysseric 6-3, 7-6 to make the last-four stage while Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and his American partner Austin Krajicek beat 6-3, 7-6 Fredrick Nielsen and Joe Salisbury.

Women’s results

At the $25K ITF event in Hong Kong, second seed Karman Kaur Thandi powered into the semi-final with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mai Hontama. However, she and partner Tessah Andrianjafitrimo went down in the doubles semi-final losing 2-6, 5-7 to Pei-Chi Lee and Jessy Rompies.

India’s challenge in the doubles stayed alive as Pranjala Yadlapalli and partner Victoria Muntean beat the Japanese duo of Risa Ozaki and Ramu Ueda 7-5,7-5 to reach the final.

At the $25K ITF event in Fergana, Rutuja Bhosale’s campaign came to an end as she lost in the second round of the singles. The seventh seed went down to Anastasia Frolova 2-6, 3-6. She had earlier lost in the doubles on Wednesday. Riya Bhatia is the only Indian left in the fray and she and partner Ksenia Palkina beat Nastja Kolar and Alexandra Riley 6-3, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals.

Prarthana Thombare and her partner Rika Fujiwara went down against fourth seed Valeria Savinykh and Yana Sizikova 4-6, 7-5, 8-10 at the ITF tournament at Ilkey.
