India coach Ravi Shastri has rubbished speculation surrounding MS Dhoni’s retirement, The Times of India reported.
Dhoni set tongues wagging after he took the match ball from the umpires at the end of the third ODI between India and England at Headingley.
“MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun (India bowling coach). He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like,” Shastri was quoted as saying.
Shastri asserted that Dhoni had no plans of leaving cricket.
“That’s rubbish. MS is not going anywhere. But right now, all this clamour is nonsense. He wanted to show the ball to Arun to just have a look at it after close to 45 overs had been bowled,” the Indian head coach asserted.
Dhoni came under the scanner during the series due to his insipid form. During the Lord’s ODI, the former skipper was even booed after frustrating knock.
