In photos: Heavy rains, floods batter northern India, rivers cross danger mark
In Jammu and Kashmir, eight persons have died in the last three days due to rain-related incidents.
Several parts of northern India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha, received heavy rain on Tuesday.
The rains also caused flooding in several areas.
In Jammu and Kashmir, eight persons have died in the last three days due to rain-related incidents. Of the total, five deaths were recorded after a landslide occurred on Tuesday at Adhwari on the way to the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu.
Almost all the rivers and streams in Jammu were flowing above or close to the danger mark, the Hindustan Times reported. Several low-lying areas and roads in the city have been submerged, unidentified officials told the newspaper.

In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains triggered landslips and flash floods at several places. Strong currents of the Beas river washed away a multi-storey hotel and four shops in Manali in Kullu district, PTI reported.
In Mandi district, two buildings with about 40 shops collapsed in the Balichowki area on Monday night. Kanvi in Kinnaur district was also hit by flash floods.
