Wankhede curator files complaint against Ravi Shastri for abusing him
The Indian team management was reportedly unhappy with the nature of the Mumbai pitch during the fifth one-dayer against South Africa.
Wankhede Stadium curator and former cricketer Sudhir Naik on Monday lodged an official complaint with the Mumbai Cricket Association against Indian cricket team director Ravi Shastri for abusing him during the fifth One-Day International between India and South Africa on Sunday. Naik said that during the innings break, Shastri sarcastically complimented him for preparing a “great wicket”, before going on to abuse him, reported the Indian Express.
Naik submitted his written complaint to MCA vice-president Dilip Vengsarkar on Monday in which he alleged that the Indian team management was not happy with the flat nature of the pitch and had wanted a turning track to suit their three spin bowlers. India went on to lose the game by 214 runs after South Africa posted a mammoth 438 on the board. The former India opener also said that Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun fired his assistant for not putting water on the pitch on the eve of the game.
MCA joint secretary PV Shetty confirmed the reception of Naik's complaint and said that the managing committee will take up the matter during its meeting on October 30.
