Fire that killed Dalit children started inside room, say forensic experts
The finding casts serious doubts on the father's claim that the house was set on fire from the outside by upper-caste Rajputs.
Forensic experts on Thursday said the fire that killed two Dalit children in Faridabad on October 20 originated from inside the room, and not from outside as the infants' father Jitender had claimed, reported The Indian Express. The opinion on this was unanimous, said the forensic team.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday had started investigating the incident. The forensic findings have complicated the matter as Jitender had claimed that the family was attacked by upper-caste Rajput men while they were asleep at home. The incident had sparked outrage all over the country. Seven of the eleven accused in the case have been arrested.
