Two soldiers killed as Pakistan fires in Jammu and Kashmir
The neighbouring country violated the ceasefire agreement, days before Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
Two soldiers were killed in Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday after Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire agreement and fired at Indian posts. An army spokesman said firing started at 12.30 pm and continued till 2 pm, reported The Indian Express. One of the soldiers was a resident of Gurez.
The ceasefire violation comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar, scheduled for November 7. Modi's trip has already been marred by controversy, with the state's separatists leaders planning a massive protest march on the same day.
