Gadkari announces road projects worth Rs 10,000 crore in Nagaland
The move is part of the government’s plan to boost the development of the country’s neglected North East region.
Union Roads and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said the government has planned infrastructure projects worth Rs 10,000 crore in Nagaland. This will include a Rs 1,200-crore plan to make National Highway 39 a four-lane road. The government also plans to improve the city portions of NH39 in Dimapur and Kohima, the Press Trust of India reported.
These projects are part of the government’s plan to build 10,000 kilometres of roads and bridges across north-east region over five years at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore. Gadkari said the North East ministry is planning to start 20 projects this year alone.
