Complainant in RK Pachauri harassment case quits TERI
The woman said the Delhi think tank has failed to protect her and shielded its director-general instead.
The 29-year-old woman who had accused scientist RK Pachauri of molesting her has resigned from The Energy and Resources Institute, the Delhi think-tank of which he is the director-general. She claimed she has been “mistreated in the worst possible manner”, and accused the institution of creating a hostile environment, with its governing council doing nothing to ensure that her career was not put in jeopardy.
The complainant also questioned the decision of the governing council to allow Pachauri back into the institution even though he was facing court proceedings for the sexual harassment charges. Instead, she claimed, her work profile was changed without explanation. The woman said that following her resignation, she would claim “damages and other dues/costs for the gross misconduct and mental torture”, while pursuing the litigation till the end.
The harassment charges were filed against Pachauri in February, after which several women who had worked with him came forward to claim similar misconduct over the years.
