Authorities in Belgium have launched six new raids in Brussels on Thursday linked to Paris attacks suicide bomber Bilal Hadfi, reported the Associated Press. Quoting an official in the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office, the report said that the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek, which has been at the heart of police investigations over the past few days, is the focus of one of the raids, along with other areas of Brussels. Bilal Hadfi is thought to have been one of three attackers who blew themselves up at the Stade de France stadium.
The Guardian reported that the entire third floor of the building in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis collapsed during the seven-hour police raid on Wednesday. A police official told Europe 1 that due to the collapse, it was proving difficult for authorities to identify the bodies “and could mean we may have a third terrorist under the rubble”.
On Wednesday, French forces had launched the operation targeting an apartment in the building, where a group of terrorists involved in the attacks were thought to be holed up. Two people were reported dead and seven others were arrested in the raid, although French authorities were unable to confirm whether the alleged mastermind behind the attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, had been killed, committed suicide or was still at large.
