Tamil Nadu rains: Toll reaches 120, more showers forecast for Saturday

The toll from rain-related incidents in Tamil Nadu rose to 120 on Friday after overnight rains lashed many parts of Chennai. While there was no rain on Friday morning, weather officials have forecast more showers in the coastal and interior districts of the state for November 21.
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said nine persons had been killed in the last four days, mainly from Chennai and Kancheepuram. She announced a compensation package of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the victims, reported PTI.
In the next 24 hours, rain is expected in the districts along the Western Ghats, such as Theni and Nilgiris, according to SR Ramanan, director of the Regional Meteorological Department.
