3rd Test: South Africa collapse to 79 all out before lunch on Day 2
Bamboozled by the spinners, the Proteas were dismissed for the lowest-ever Test total against India.
South Africa resumed at 11/2 on the second day and only managed to add 68 runs to their total, getting bowled out for 79 before lunch in the third Test against India in Nagpur. This was the lowest total India has ever restricted a team to in a Test innings.
The carnage started from the first over itself, with the spinners getting into the act. Dean Elgar, Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers fell in quick succession, leaving South Africa at 12/5. JP Duminy bravely played a few shots, but no one else stuck around long enough to support him, with both Faf du Plessis and Dean Vilas being dismissed soon after.
Duminy fell towards the end, scoring 35, but South Africa were already at a woeful 75/8 then. They got bowled out four runs later. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were the wreckers-in-chief: Ashwin ended the innings with 5/32, while Jadeja took 4/33.
