1 dead, 36 injured after driver crashes into crowd in Las Vegas
The accused fled the scene soon after the accident but was later arrested, and initial reports suggested it might have been an intentional rampage.
At least one person died after a driver ran down a group of pedestrians in front of a Las Vegas hotel late on Sunday, during the Miss Universe pageant which was being held nearby. Around 36 people, including several children, were injured in the accident, which police ruled out as an act of terrorism.
Reports said the driver initially fled the scene but was later arrested. She is being tested for drug and alcohol levels. There was also a three-year-old in the car, BBC reported. Associated Press says initial investigations show that the crash might have been intentional. The tourist hub of Las Vegas, the Strip, has been cordoned off after the crash.
