Arvind Kejriwal defiant after Lt Governor says AAP inquiry into DDCA is illegal
The Delhi chief minister on Friday attacked the Centre and Arun Jaitley again, asking why they were afraid of an inquiry into the alleged DDCA scam.
Arvind Kejriwal on Friday hit out at the Centre and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley again, asking why they were “afraid” of the commission set up for an inquiry into the Delhi and District Cricket Association. He tweeted that he was “not afraid” of the raid held in his Principal Secretary’s office by the Central Bureau of Investigation last week, and asked why the Centre should be worried about the DDCA inquiry.
Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday joined the fracas surrounding the inquiry into Arun Jaitley’s alleged involvement in the DDCA irregularities. Jung said the inquiry, commissioned by Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party government, is illegal. Jung reportedly wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs and has said that Delhi, being a Union Territory, cannot order a commission of inquiry without the permission of the Centre or the Lieutenant Governor. The AAP government earlier this week, issued a notification to set up a commission to investigate alleged irregularities in the DDCA, which was headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
