Pathankot attacks: NIA seeks Interpol's help on identifying dead terrorists
The investigative agency has recovered a mobile phone and other items from the site of the siege.
A ten-member National Investigation Agency team looking into the attacks at Pathankot air force base has asked for assistance from the International Police Organisation to identify the bodies of two terrorists killed in the attacks. Fresh searches at the site of the attacks also led to the NIA locating a mobile phone, the magazine of an AK47 rifle, and a pair of binoculars.
The NIA will question Punjab Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh, whom they suspect assisted the terrorists the night of January 2. Singh might undergo a polygraph test, reports said. Two of Singh’s acquaintances will also be questioned.
NDTV reported that the NIA is investigating how the suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists crossed the border into India and how they smuggled a large set of weapons across. The militants were reportedly carrying AK-47 rifles, modified Under Grenade Barrel Launchers, pistols, Swiss and commando knives, and 40-50 kg of bullets.
Pakistan on Monday ordered a Joint Investigation Team to look into the attack after authorities in the country arrested five suspects in connection with the attacks. Pakistan has promised to take action against those who were behind the attack.
