Mirza-Hingis win 28th consecutive match, equal 22-year-old record

The tennis doubles duo of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis won their 28th consecutive match at the Apia International in Sydney on Wednesday, equaling a record set by Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva in 1994.
The Indian-Swiss pair have been in sizzling form since they joined forces in 2015, winning nine titles, including the Wimbledon and the US Open. They won the last tournament of the year at the WTA Tour Finals, and started 2016 with another tournament win, taking the Brisbane International. Experts expect that they will be eyeing a clean sweep of all the Grand Slams this year.
For their 28th win consecutive win together, Mirza and Hingis easily swept aside the Chinese pair of Chen Liang and Shuai Peng, winning 6-2, 6-3 in straight sets.
