The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that India has welcomed the arrest of Jaish-e-Mohammed leaders in Pakistan in connection with the Pathankot terror attack. The MEA termed the arrests "an important and positive first step" taken by the neighbouring country in the investigation. However, the ministry said that it does not have any information on the arrest of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar, which was reported by the Pakistani media on Wednesday.

MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that India is looking forward to the visit of Pakistan's special investigation team to probe the attack. He added that India will cooperate with Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.

Swarup also said that the foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries have been rescheduled to the "very near future". He added that Indian Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has been in touch with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry.
