Pathankot attacks: Jaish chief Masood Azhar neither booked nor arrested, says report
Three other members of the terrorist organisation that were detained in Pakistan have been held for possessing jihadi literature, and not for their links to the attacks on the Indian air force base.
Pakistan authorities have neither arrested nor placed Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar under house arrest, government officials said on Monday. They added that the detention of three other JeM members was not related to the Pathankot attack, but for possessing jihadi literature, The Indian Express reported. “...There is no authentic and credible proof to suggest that such action has actually been taken by Pakistan,” a government official said, adding that no FIR has been registered against Azhar.
The Pakistan government on January 13 said there had been "considerable progress" in their investigation into those who carried out the Pathankot attacks. It had also said that several JeM members were detained, though they did not mention what for. Pakistan's lack of confirmation of Azhar's detention is reportedly what led to the postponing of foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan.
In another development in the case, investigators have not found any “incriminating” evidence against former Gurdaspur SP Salwinder Singh, who is under investigation for a possible link with the attackers involved in the incident at the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot, IANS reported. On Monday, a Delhi court granted investigators permission to conduct a lie detector test on Singh.
