Court orders CBI to return documents seized from Delhi government office
In its plea, the state government had also sought the initiation of stringent action against erring officials responsible for the raid.
The Patiala House Court on Wednesday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to return the documents seized from the office of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's principal secretary Rajendra Kumar, reported PTI. The court was acting on a plea filed by the Delhi government seeking the release of some of the documents seized by the agency during its raid on December 15 last year.
The raid had led to a series of allegations and counter-allegations between the Delhi chief minister and the Narendra Modi-led central government, under whose jurisdiction the CBI is under. While the investigating agency claimed to have found incriminating audio clips in the email inbox of Kumar, Kejriwal maintained that the agency was only looking for files concerning the Delhi and District Cricket Association.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief has accused finance minister Arun Jaitley of being involved in corruption during his tenure as the cricket body's president. Jaitley has inturn filed a defamation suit against Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders.
