At least 10 people were killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, on Monday afternoon. The country's deputy interior minister, Ayub Salangi, said at least 20 people were injured. The blast occurred in the Dehmazang area in the west of the city, reported Reuters. Reports said the blast took place at a police building after a suicide bomber tried to enter it.

An AFP photojournalist reported seeing at least 10 bodies strewn around the area after the attack. Witnesses described the bombing as a powerful blast. No group has taken responsibility for the bombing yet.

The attack comes days ahead of the third round of "roadmap talks" in Islamabad between delegates from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the United States, in a bid to seek a negotiated end to the 14-year Taliban insurgency.
