Renowned Urdu and Hindi poet Nida Fazli dead
The 78-year-old, who wrote the lyrics to the popular Jagjit Singh ghazal Hosh Walon Ko Khabar Kya..., died of a heart attack in Mumbai.
Renowned Urdu and Hindi poet Nida Fazli died on Monday in Mumbai. He was 78 and is believed to have had a heart attack. Fazli was famous for his ghazals, and wrote lyrics for some television serials and Bollywood films. The poet was heavily influenced by old Urdu and Persian poets such as Mirza Ghalib, as well as modern English writers including Anton Chekhov. Fazli often incorporated the work of Chekov, TS Eliot, and Gogol in his poetry.
He worked with the late ghazal singer Jagjit Singh on an album, Insight. Some of his popular ghazals include Kiska Chehra, Hosh Walon Ko Khabar Kya, Aa Bhi Jaa, and Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein Shaamil Hai.
