The winners of the 63rd National Film Awards were announced on Monday. Among the main set of awards, filmmaker SS Rajamouli's Telugu movie Baahubali won Best Film, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan won Best Actor for his role in Piku, and Kangana Ranaut won Best Actress for her role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

Although his movie was mired in controversy prior to its release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali bagged the award for Best Director for Bajirao Mastani. "Whether it is mainstream, art-house or parallel cinema, the director and cinematographer have toiled hard on the film, and I am ecstatic to win the award," the filmmaker said.

Chairpersons of three juries handed over the list of awardees to Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday. Among other winners of the 63 National Film Awards are the following:

  • Best Supporting Actor Male: Samuthirakani for Visaaranai
  • Best Supporting Actor Female: Tanvi Azmi for Bajirao Mastani
  • Best Film in Wholesome Entertainmen: Bajrangi Bhaijaan
  • Best Screenplay: Juhi Chaturvedi for Piku, Himanshu Sharma for Tanu Weds Manu Returns
  • Best Debut Director: Neeraj Ghaywan for Masaan
  • Best Cinematography: Sudeep Chatterjee for Bajirao Mastani
  • Film on Social Issues: Nirnayakam
  • Best Child Artist: Gaurav Menon for Ben
  • Best Children's film: Duronto
