Arvind Kejriwal, five AAP leaders granted bail in defamation case filed by Arun Jaitley
The Patiala House Court directed them to furnish bonds of Rs 20,000 and the same amount in surety.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other Aam Aadmi Party leaders were granted bail by the Patiala House Court on Thursday in a defamation case filed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The AAP leaders were told to furnish bonds of Rs 20,000 and the same amount in surety, ANI reported.
Jaitley had filed the case against the party leaders for falsely accusing him of corruption during his tenure as head of the Delhi and District Cricket Association. He had asked for Rs 10 crore in damages, NDTV reported. The court scheduled the next for May 19.
AAP and Bharatiya Janata Party workers clashed outside the courthouse before the hearing began. The DDCA issue snowballed into a massive war of words between the two parties, when Kejriwal accused the Central Bureau of Investigation of raiding his principal secretary’s office only because they were told to recover evidence incriminating the finance minister.
