The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday launched its Nagaland unit in Dimapur. It elected 13 members to the state unit’s executive body, appointing Dr S Amos Longkumer as the coordinator and Riikhietuonuo as the secretary.

AAP National Executive Committee member and observer of North Eastern States, Habung Payeng, said the party will serve as an alternative to those seeking a change in the state, adding that Naga people were dissatisfied with the regional party, the Nagaland People's Front. He added that the Congress party’s presence in the state was also inconsequential.

Party workers said AAP will first tackle the education sector, as many people in Nagaland are not aware of their rights and available schemes, PTI reported.
