Three men were arrested in connection with the kidnapping and gangrape of a woman in Kolkata on Sunday night. Police also seized a Tata Sumo from them, NDTV reported. At least four men raped the woman in a moving car in the city's Salt Lake neighbourhood late on Sunday and dumped her in a deserted area after several hours, reported The Telegraph. A local taxi driver found her and took her to a nearby police station early on Monday.

According to the victim, she had asked a man for directions while searching for a restaurant. Moments later, a car stopped in front of her, and the man pushed her inside. There were at least three other men already inside, who took turns to rape her before pushing her out of the vehicle. The woman from North Bengal and has been living in Kolkata for the last few months.

Her medical examination revealed several bruises and scars. "There are typical signs on her body confirming she was assaulted and raped," said a senior doctor at a sub-divisional hospital in Bidhannagar. "We are examining CCTV footage from various points in Sector V and have found some clues," a senior police officer had said.
