Madhya Pradesh policemen graze cattle seized from smugglers
The decision to keep the bovines under the watchful eyes of the policemen was taken because the local cowsheds didn't have enough space to accommodate them.
Policemen in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district have a new and peculiar job at hand. Nainpur police station staff are grazing more than 100 cattle seized from smugglers, Hindustan Times reported. Of the animals under the watchful eyes of the police department right now, 45 were seized from two cattle smugglers, while around 60 bovines were found stuffed in a truck stopped by the police.
"With no space available for seized cattle at the existing cowsheds, we kept the animals under round-the-clock vigil of our staff for at least three days, before we found suitable cowsheds," Nainpur police station in-charge Sudip Soni said. He added that the department staff were asked to graze the animals in dry grassland in the morning.
Police arrested six smugglers in the two separate incidents. All of them hail from Pindrai village, known for smuggling cattle to Maharashtra.
