Bail granted to suspended JD(U) lawmaker Manorama Devi
She was arrested after liquor bottles were found when police raided her home in connection with her son shooting dead a teenager in a case of road rage.
Patna High Court on Monday granted bail to suspended Janata Dal (United) legislator Manorama Devi, who had surrendered after police found liquor bottles stashed in her home in Gaya. Police raided her house after her son, Rocky Yadav, shot dead a teenager in a case of road rage. The court has asked Devi to cooperate in the trial of the case.
Her advocate YV Giri had argued that the liquor bottles were recovered from her house and not from her own possession, PTI reported. Alcohol is banned in the state.
Manorama Devi went into hiding after she was booked in the case. She later surrendered before a Gaya court on May 17. Her bail plea in the matter was rejected twice, on May 19 and 27. The JD(U) lawmaker's son Rocky Yadav had reportedly shot dead a 19-year-old student on May 7 for overtaking his car and was arrested on May 10.
