Five people were arrested in Goa on Thursday, after police busted an interstate prostitution racket involving actresses and models in state capital Panaji. Among those arrested was the agent who ran the operation. Police also rescued three women and sought five-day remand of all the accused, IANS reported.

Ringleader Anand Kumar alias Andy was arrested from his home in a housing colony on the outskirts of Panaji. "We have obtained crucial evidence from the residence of Kumar that includes a list of his high-profile clients and contacts of actresses and models," said Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Karthik Kashyap. But he refused to divulge any names.

The four others arrested were agents who worked under Kumar. They were picked up from a building in Ribandar, a small town located between Panaji and Old Goa. The women were rescued from a nearby flat, also on the outskirts of Panaji.

Goa Police had conducted a raid using a decoy customer. They said the racket was operational in Goa as well as Maharashtra. According to some media reports, a model or actor used to charge between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 20 lakh per customer. Most customers were from the corporate world or political functionaries, India Today reported.
