Four Samajwadi Party legislators suspended for ‘anti-party activities’
The MLAs had reportedly cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha polls that took place on Saturday.
The Samajwadi Party on Monday suspended four of its legislators for “anti-party activities”, PTI reported. The four MLAs, Nawazish Alam (Budhana-Muzaffarnagar), Bhagwan Sharma (Dibai), Mukesh Sharma (Shikarpur-Bulandshahr) and Shyam Prakash (Gopamau in Hardoi) had reportedly reportedly defied party orders and did not support SP leaders in recently held Rajya Sabha polls. However, the party won all seven Rajya Sabha seats it had contested in Uttar Pradesh.
Party spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury made the announcement and said Chief Minister and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav had ordered the MLAs’ suspension.
