Beach shacks in Goa will have CCTV cameras installed from October
State Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said the government will also ensure proper garbage disposal and adequate number of toilets along the beaches.
Goa government has decided to install Closed Circuit Television cameras on the shacks of every beach by October this year, when the tourist season starts. State Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar held a meeting with the MLAs and beach shack operators on Friday to formulate Shack Policy 2016-19, which is meant to be a framework to help regulate activities on the beach.
"Installation of CCTV cameras on shacks will be mandatory from this season onwards. The step is taken to ensure that there is a complete check on the happenings on the beaches," Parulekar told PTI.
During the meeting, shack operators requested the government to take action against those violating the shack policy. "It was agreed that a special committee will be constituted comprising government officials and shack operators and strict action be taken against violators," said the minister.
Parulekar claimed that the government will ensure proper garbage disposal and adequate number of toilets along the beaches.
