Delhi court convicts three for abducting and murdering Jigisha Ghosh in 2009
The three were also accused in the killing of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan in the capital in 2008.
A Saket court on Thursday pronounced all three accused in the murder of Jigisha Ghosh guilty. Sentencing will take place on August 20, reports said. The three accused – Amit Shukla, Baljeet Malik and Ravi Kapoor – were charged for murder, criminal conspiracy, possessing illegal arms, abduction and robbery, reported News18.
Ghosh, an employee at a Delhi call centre, was killed in 2009. The 28-year-old had been abducted and robbed before her body was dumped in the outskirts of the capital. The accused were caught on camera using Ghosh’s debit card after her death. After their arrest, Delhi Police said the accused were also involved in the murder of television journalist Soumya Vishwanathan in 2008. Vishwanathan was driving home from work late one night and was shot in the head. Police had said robbery was likely to have been the motive in her murder as well.
