Amazon India has launched its Prime subscription service in 100 cities across the country. The subscription allows its users free shipping for any number of orders with no price cap. It also provides free one-and-two-days' delivery and access to the website's new offers 30 minutes before other customers.

Initially, Amazon India will offer a special introductory price of Rs 499 for a one-year Prime subscription, which will later go up to Rs 999. The subscription rate in India is lower whe compared to other markets – $99 (Rs 6,633) for America and £96 (Rs 8,691) for United Kingdom. Currently, Amazon Prime is available for a free 60-day trial.

Members in 20 Indian cities can choose same-day delivery at a discounted fee of Rs 50 per order. These deliveries typically cost Rs 150, reported the Economic Times.

Amit Agarwal, Vice-President and Country Head of Amazon India told the Indian Express, “With Prime, guaranteed one-day delivery becomes an everyday experience instead of an occasional indulgence, and with no minimum purchases, it provides unlimited convenience all year long."

Talks are also on to launch Amazon Prime Videos in India.
