A Dalit couple was hacked to death with an axe in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, allegedly over a loan of Rs 15. Shopkeeper Ashok Mishra, who allegedly attacked the two after a heated argument, has been arrested.
The couple had reportedly borrowed Rs 15 from Mishra and were unable to pay him back. According to NDTV, the attack took place when the couple went to the store around 6 am and had an argument over the money.
Mainpuri is Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Yadav's constituency.
