Supplementary chargesheet filed against Chhota Rajan in J Dey murder case
The underworld gangster was present on video-conference while the CBI carried out the proceedings.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday filed a supplementary chargesheet against gangster Chhota Rajan in connection with the murder of journalist J Dey in 2011. The underworld don was present during the filing via videoconference, reported ANI.
Rajan had reportedly ordered Dey’s killing because he was upset with stories the crime reporter had written about him during his career. Four men on motorcycle had shot Dey near his home in Powai, Mumbai, while he too was out on a bike.
The CBI was meant to file the supplementary chargesheet several months ago, but had asked for more time saying they were facing procedural hurdles. The special court assigned to hear the case had given them till August 5 to file the supplementary chargesheet, warning that they would frame charges based on the original chargesheet if the headline was not met. Rajan was arrested in October, 2015, when Indonesian authorities handed him over to India.
